Katowice Airport is an international airport situated in Pyrzowice, 30 km north of Katowice, Poland. The airport has the fourth-highest number of passengers in Poland. It is also the second-largest airline in the world about freight traffic. It offers several charters, regular, and cargo services. German troops originally used the new site at Katowice Airport. The Luftwaffe started the development of an airbase in the meadows near Pyrzowice in 1940.
Three stone and concrete airstrips were constructed by the Germans, with runway distances spanning from 1000 to 1500 meters, both of which were around 50 meters long. The airbase was responsible for managing strategic aircraft operating from the top part of the German Reich, delivering provisions to soldiers on the Eastern Front. The Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet rocket-powered aircraft is evaluated here in the final process of World War II. Upon the assassination of General Ernst Udet (a Luftwaffe flying ace) in 1941, the airfield was called Udetfeld.
The airport can handle about 5,000 vehicles, at Premium Car Park, P1 Car Park, P2 Car Park, and P3 Car Park (secure parking). Most of the parking spaces are accessible at P2; a regular courtesy bus service brings you to the airport. Making an online reservation is much more economical. The recently built premium vehicle Park is situated immediately in front of Terminal C. Car parks provide free transfers or meet and greet service. Car parks are illuminated, protected, and covered, with pleasant service at very reasonable rates.
