Faro Airport, known as Algarve Airport, is 4 km (2.5 mi) west of Faro, Portugal. The airport began in July 1965. A record of 9.0 million travelers took services of Faro airport in 2019. The airport had become a gateway for the first time in March 2010, when Ryanair planned to locate seven of its aircraft. It’s active from March to October, to the point that it is a scheduled airport slot. Faro Airport can handle six million travelers a year. There are 22 stands, 16 of which are accessible, with 60 check-in desks and 36 boarding gates.
After its completion in 1966, Faro airport has seen two interesting developments: the first passenger terminal building in 1989 and its extension in 2001. In the face of rising traffic demand and customer health and satisfaction demands, the 2009–2013 development plan saw Faro airport undertake substantial upgrades to the runway and facilities, as well as comprehensive rehabilitation of the airport terminal and parkades. Along with the airports in Lisbon, Porto, Ponta Delgada, Santa Maria, Horta, Flores, Madeira, and Porto Santo, licenses were given on 18 December 1998 to ANA Aeroportos de Portugal to assist civil aviation according to the terms of Decree 404/98.
Faro has six parking lots, from P1 to P6, the first three of which are designated public parking lots. These are all inside easy reach of the terminal site, but their location is as per their usability. The average public car parking room is fewer than 1,000. The parking lots are on the first floor with open spaces and security.

There is no parking at Faro airport to drop or pick up passengers, and the offending drivers will face punishments. There is, indeed, an extra parking walk, next to the exit area, which is conveniently referred to as the “kiss & fly” parking point. Access is always via the door, but the first ten minutes are open, leaving plenty of room to drop passengers and baggage. Staying longer than ten minutes is subject to a charge of €1.00 for every additional five minutes up to €10.00 per hour. The same multi-entry laws apply to P2.
It is the short-term parking lot closest to the departure hall that is ideal for short trips to and from the airport if you don’t want to rush your farewell. It just takes a few seconds to get to the exit position and two minutes to get back. P1 parking charges are €0.85 for each 15-minute duration, with a maximum price of €10.00 on the first day. In the first twenty-four hours, the daily charge is €1.50 up to a limit of €10.00 a day.
It is only a minute’s walk from the arrival location and is ideal for quick trips. If you pick up travelers, the first ten minutes are guaranteed. Entry is across a firewall where a ticket is released. When you remain there for more than 10 minutes, you will have to pay a fine. To deter commercial vehicles from utilizing this service, the free duration of ten minutes extends only to two trips in each twenty-four-hour span. You can also pay at annual rates, irrespective of the length of the stay.
At P2, the first 10 minutes are safe, so if you linger longer, the first 15 minutes would cost €0.70. Each of the next 15 minutes is €0.70. The average regular cost is 10.00€.

It is a long-stay parking lot, which, being just 400 meters from the terminal site, is just a five to eight-minute stroll to the arrivals which departures sections. Although all three car parks may be used for extended periods, P3 is slightly cheaper than P1 and P2.
At P3, the standard rate for long-stay parking on the first day is €5.00. In the first twenty-four hours, the cost per hour shall be €1.00, with an average price a day of €5.00 for the first fourteen days. The average amount per day from the fifteenth day to the completion of the first month is €4.00. The average cost for the first month is €3.00.
It is meant for car rental agencies and is when you pay to get your rented car paid.
These are for big buses and private transportation cars, alike. If you are using one of these buses, you will be greeted in the arrivals hall and driven to the correct parking place.
The key road to the airport is N125-10. Check the signage for the airport and the correct blue signage for P1, P2, and P3. Kiss & Fly is a blue P with no number at all. When you are renting a rental vehicle, obey the instructions for the return car hire. If you need to fuel a tank, there is a petrol station when you approach the airport lane.
Off-site parking is another choice for long-stay parking. Such parks, which are situated further from the airport, are typically operated by private corporations in a safe area. They offer a daily shuttle bus to and from the airport. There are other facilities offered, such as meeting & welcoming, where the driver can collect you at the airport and carry your car to the car park. You will be greeted with your car on the way back, saving you time and hassle. Several businesses also provide car operation and support.
